New opportunities to reach voters online emerge every-day, so you can’t deny the power of online organizing. However, person-to-person voter contact still matters and canvassing still plays a key role. Canvassing is proving time and time again as one of the most effective ways to move votes. Some may argue that it matters even more now and that real life voter contact can help break through all the noise in our daily lives.
This doesn’t mean that we run canvasses the same way that they were run in 2002 though. There are opportunities to better integrate online and offline campaigning, and find tools and technology that are a good fit for some campaigns. There is solid research on what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to a paid canvass operation.
Whether we are just helping run one canvass or advising on the overall field operation, we always look for opportunities to maximize the canvass opportunities and integrate with other departments–staying in our lane and focusing on what’s important.
What We Offer
- A Canvass Quick Start: Tailored to campaigns looking to launch their first canvass program, the Canvass Quick Start package builds plans for modern and disciplined canvass operations, developing the materials and systems they need to launch their canvass. We work with your team to develop plans and targets, set goals, build systems, and set structures to launch a professional and disciplined canvass operation.
- Canvass Consulting: We provide the same set of materials to launch your canvass, and additional ongoing support to your field director (or staff assigned to the canvass).
- Full-Service Canvass Management: Our team manages the canvass start-to-finish, from hiring to payroll, management to data, and all points in between. For cost efficiency, we’ll typically hire, train, and guide a staffer from our network and place them in your campaign full-time (or part-time).
We run our canvass programs a little differently, charging a set-up fee and a monthly management fee that varies based on the size and complexity of the canvass. There are no mark-ups or commissions on canvassers or doors. We pay canvassers a fair wage of no less than $15/hour. Click here to learn more.
